With the release of his newest single ‘In Mexico’ which has already hit number 1 in the UK, up and coming rock star Max Anderton takes time out of his very busy schedule to have a quick chat with us here at BASS.
This young lad is shooting to fame quicker than anything this planet has seen before, and it won’t be long until he is selling out stadium tours all around the world, the 21 year old from Manchester who has just returned home after supporting, Linkin Park in their latest tour speaks of when his first album will be released, how he shot to fame and also what’s to come in the future for this bright talent.

How did you first get into music?
From when I was very young, I’ve always played guitar since I was about 5, mum could never get it out of my hands, no one ever really encouraged me or inspire me to become a singer I just done it from my own ambition and a lot of hard work.

Your first single has really taken off did you expect this?
To be honest I just took a gamble on releasing this single ‘In Mexico’ but wow it has really taken off, I never expected this I just wanted to get a feel of how people would react to my music but I guess now I’m going to be expected to just get better and better, I don’t wanna be no one hit wonder.

Where did the title ‘In Mexico’ come from?
To be honest it was just totally random, it doesn’t really have anything to do with the song, but the story behind it is that I was on holiday in Mexico and was lazing by the pool where I wrote this song after completing it I couldn’t think of a title for the life of me, and as I was in Mexico I thought you know what ima call it In Mexico and it sounded pretty catchy, it just stuck I guess

Oh right nice, I hear you have just toured with Linkin Park, how was it?
Ah man it was insane, words just can’t describe how much of an incredible experience it was for me, I learnt so much from the band, there all awesome guys and being able to spend time with them and learn from them will help me a lot with my own career.

They seem really cool, so do you have any album plans?
Album plans? Of course I have an album in store for you all it should be ready for you guys in a month or two, just putting the final touches to it and maybe release another single off it just before I release the album.

Any random name’s for this album?
Errm…. I don’t actually have a name for this album yet, so maybe you could give me a suggestion?

Haha no I’m not any good with names. It has been spoken about you doing collaboration is this true?
Well that’s news to me, I haven’t heard nothing of this, although if put with the right person maybe a collaboration could be pretty sweet but for the moment I’m fully focused on my own work and getting myself known before I record with any other artist

You say you want to focus of getting yourself known but wouldn’t this be a way?
Yes it could be a way, but the song would be more remembered for the bigger artist than just the little feature artist, like I said this is why I toured with Linkin Park, as it gave me a feel for performing in front of a huge crowd and I have learnt so much from them.

Moving on, do you find yourself a bit of a hit with the ladies?
Haha, well I wouldn’t really say I am as my head would look huge, but yeah I have a few girls after me, but hey which musicians don’t even Daniel beddingfield attracts girls. But yeah I wouldn’t say im looking for a relationship at the moment unless the right girl comes along of course, but single life is good for now, gives me more time for my music.
